I'm writing this blog from seat 25A on my Qantas flight from Melbourne bound for Adelaide. Our takeoff is delayed due to a storm cell passing through this area. So far we've been on the tarmac for an hour... shouldn't be too much longer... I hope.
I have been travelling quite a lot so far this year and have also recently been channeling my time and energy into the new Sunburnt Country Consulting website which will be launched within the next month. Of course, as most things do, it is taking longer than I anticipated to populate it and get the look and feel of it 'just right' with the fabulous web designer that has designed and built it for us.
This website has served us well since its launch in September 2008, however it's time for a fresh new look. I'm really looking forward to our new site going live soon!
Back to the flight... the storm has passed and we are about to get underway. I am travelling to the great state of SA for Uraidla Show this weekend. I've not been there before but apparently Uraidla is a pretty country town set in the glorious Adelaide hills. There I will be doing my bit as a National Roadshow crew member to promote and celebrate the Australian Year of the Farmer.
I am thrilled to be a Roadshow crew member on a casual basis. On the other hand, some of my colleagues are following the white line full time this year to some 300+ events in rural and urban Australia, giving AYOF a 'face' and reaching Australians face-to-face. The photo on the left is from our Roadshow training in Melbourne in January - learning to put up the marquee.
I'd like to encourage everyone to really get behind the Australian Year of the Farmer. It may only happen once in our lifetime and it's our golden opportunity to give farmers the time in the spotlight that they deserve. Visit www.yearofthefarmer.com.au to find out how you can support it.
Our management of Hereford Prime's Australia Day event and related marketing was once again a priviledge and highly rewarding to be involved in. Hereford Prime is undoubtedly an Australian success story, having recently added another butcher shop in Mortdale, Sydney to their expanding operations. If you haven't tried Hereford Prime beef, you really must! Visit www.herefordprime.com.au for more information.
Now we are focused on planning for Beef Australia 2012 and the NCHA Futurity in May/June, amongst other varied projects and marketing activities for clients. 2012 is off to a flying and great start from our new base at West Wyalong, and there are no signs of it slowing down!
It's also that time of year that the state winners of the RIRDC Rural Women's Award are being announced. I was excited to learn yesterday that a friend and colleague of mine Catherine Marriott has received the award for Western Australia. Well done Mazz!
Until next time, take the road less travelled.
